Hi! I wrote about this excellent Sangean portable radio quite some time ago, back then the radio was rather difficult to import into Australia but I'm absolutely delighted to tell you all that now its as easy as buying the radio from eBay, a couple of stores on eBay are only too pleased! to ship the radio to you from the U.S.
Usually importing radios from the U.S. isn't a good idea as the AM step is different from ours - in the U.S. the stip is 10KHZ whereas everywhere else in the world is 9KHZ, this radio can be switched between 9-10KHZ steps. The radio comes with an AC 110 volts adapter, the adapter plugs into the side of the unit and can be substituted for a 9 volts centre positive adapter for your local region which can be purchased at your local electronics outlet, you can get a "Step-Down" transformer to run the radio with the supplied AC adapter or you can just shelve the whole idea of running the radio on AC power and use 6 C cell batteries. Whatever way you decide to power this radio you'll be absolutely chuffed! by the AM reception, this radio is probably one of the best kept secrets when it comes to receiving AM signals so its absolutely perfect for those who live a fair way from major cities and towns. The radio is a stereo set meaning that it has 2 speakers and can receiver FM stereo, sensitivity on FM is very good but unfortunately the radio lacks selectivity on FM which is a bit of a drawback if you're trying to receive weaker stations next to stronger one's. The radio has a clock and alarm though note that the "Clear" colour version does not have the clock/alarm function. Several methods of tuning are available including rotary manual tuning, seek and Preset tuning - the radio has 10 presets -.
