I personally use Trekker Breeze which is now less than half the price it used
to be here in the UK. It’s about £349.00 excluding VAT nowadays, instead of
the outrageously uncompetitive £699.00. I find that it works well in the UK.
My only gripe is that it isn’t at all sensitive. It won’t work indoors most of
the time. That is a bit of a shame because I believe others such as the
Navogon and AroundMe on iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch do work indoors. I could be
wrong there. I do have all of those solutions as well so should really put
them through their paces. But getting back to outdoor work, I use the Breeze
when navigating and find it very friendly and flexible. Of course, that may
not be the option for William or anybody else, for that matter. One man’s meat
is another man’s poison. I don’t see me buying the Kapten FTP, as I think it’s
called, any time soon. It’s way too highly priced, and I really don’t see much
in the way of additional benefit, aside from the possibly superior voice
activation system. The Breeze is extremely static in that respect, and I must
admit that it could really be better. Recording landmarks and roots is all
very well. But sometimes the system can be a bit tedious I must admit. I like
the way the Breeze tells me if I’m straying off route. It works in pedestrian
and vehicle mode, and you can combine the roots which it auto-records with
landmarks which you have to speak yourself in no more than 6 second recordings.
Wouldn’t it be good if the Breeze could take advantage of more RAM by using
its sD card for that as well.

Anyway I’m rambling. All I can suggest is that possibly paying a visit to a
demo somewhere might be the best bet. I think it really depends on what you’re
looking for. I, for instance, don’t much see the need for an FM radio. But
that’s just me. This is supposed to be a navigation system, not a media player.

Kind regards
