Yes, the speaker etc is designed well, nice and flat response without any need for a bass or treble control.
I'd imagine where you are? well you'd be living in FM paradise, far more FM stations to pull in than over here and more local content too so with a Tivoli you'd have an absolute field day <smile>. There are 2 models in this line, the Pal - and the iPal, essentually both are the same, only difference is the name, the iPal being deliberately marketed towards iPod users, you can plug a patch cord in to your iPod and connect the other end to the iPal obviously, I've done that and - though the sound through the speaker is mono - its a damn good mono sound and you do forget that you're listening to a portable radio. No, these radios don't come cheap but..well.. if you want good sound and good performance then that usually means you have to pay a little extra to get it.
