Hi! I received my New JBL Onair unit this morning, actually as it goes the model is quite old, its a 2010 model, I got it cheaply for around a quarter of the price it would have usually sold for because of the 30 pin Apple dock connector which is no longer used, as this system is intended for "airPlay" use then the dock was of no concern to me whatever as I don't have any 30 pin dock Apple products any longer.
so to the unit itself and the design is something out of a book on UF'S, looks like a donut standing on its side, at the bottom is a piece which protrudes fron the donut shape, this is where the display for the unit and the controls are located. The IOS device docks in the centre of the donut shape thus its perfectly visible to the naked eye and is offered some protection by the housing. Unfortunately this device doesn't have a straight forward setup utility or procedure as my JBL ONbeat Air did and I actually regret selling that unit but never mind, my loss is someone's gain <smile>. You will need sighted assistance to get the Onair system connected to your Wi-Fi network but once done all you have to do is to start streaming from your "airPlay" compatible device, computer etc, the onAir system will detect the transmission of the stream and turn to on from "standby" mode instantly. The onAir system has a fully functional digital alarm clock and 10 preset FM radio which does has some very good points to it if you can be bothered with a little patience to learn how it works. When you're scanning for stations, you can hear the Tuner moving up or down the bands as the radio "Seeks" out the stronger signals, usually radios mute this type of activity. Unfortunately the onAir is not portable, meaning that it must be run from AC power though it can be moved from room to room. ********** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 Fax +61397437954 ======================================= The Techno-Chat E-Mail forum is guaranteed malware, spyware, Trojan, virus and worm-free To modify your subscription options, please visit for forum's dedicated web pages located at http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/techno-chat You can find an archive of all messages posted to the Techno-Chat group at either of the following websites: http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/techno-chat/index.html Or: <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]> you may also subscribe to this list via RSS.
