Very clever. Now I have that song going through my head.
I only had a couple of small problems. One was a
technical problem about how to tell the difference between
half-wave DC with a little AC thrown in and full AC which is
what you get when somebody actually rings the bell. You probably
don't want to hear that shaggy dog story.
Then there was the mechanical issue of how to get the
red light to be adjustable so it could point in whatever
direction you need it to.
I ended up mounting it on a plastic pill bottle and then
put a zip tie around the neck of the bottle for some friction and
secured the tail of the zip tie in to a block of wood to which
I had fixed a pair of rubber rails. One can grasp the bottle and
turn it in the zip tie to aim it but the rubber rails hold it in
place afterward.
Now I can work on other projects and not feel guilty.
