This was taken from the dev list that I'm on revgarding nvda. I cannot currently test this but here are the instructions. Feedback is welcome. I can forward it on to the nvda dev list for those that are not on there as of yet.
Take care and hth. As a first step to implementing NVDA ticket 3564 (remote NVDA), I have succeeded with logging into a remote computer and running NVDA via the remote user account. The setup was as follows: > · Client: Windows 8.1 Pro, NVDA next snapshot with Remote Desktop > Connection client. > · Server: Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (virtualized via VMWare), > NVDA master snapshot with Remote Desktop Services. > For now, the current instructions are as follows: > 1. Note either the IP address or the computer name of the remote > computer (IP addresses are preferred). > 2. From remote end, go to Control Panel/System/Remote and enable allow > remote connection (or similar). Windows will pop up about adding firewall > rule, at which point I recommend going to Windows Firewall and enabling > Remote Desktop TCP/UDP In from Inbound rules list. > 3. From the remote end, create a user account with a password, or if you > have only one user account, set up a password (you can log in without a > password, but you need to tell the remote computer (via Group Policy) to > allow this). > 4. Once the remote user account has been set up and if the user on the > remote computer uses NVDA, copy current user’s NVDA configuration data to the > following location: > sysDrive\Users\remoteUsername\AppData\Roaming\NVDA > where sysDrive is the partition on which Windows was installed and > remoteUserName is the name of the remote user account. > Note: Windows will ask if you want to gain access to this location once you > attempt to enter the remote user’s folder. > 5. From local end, if using Remote Desktop Connection, enter the name of > the computer, then go to settings and tell RDC to play audio on the local > computer. From display page, I recommend not using full screen yet unless you > want to fully control the remote computer (you can toggle between local and > remote computer from RDC by pressing Control+Alt+Pause keys). > 6. From the local end, connect to the remote computer (when logging in, > enter the credentials for the remote user). > 7. After you log in, press Control+Alt+N to start NVDA. To let NVDA > start after you log in, from General Settings, check the box to allow NVDA to > start after logging in. > At least this is the basic steps on using NVDA remotely.
