I just thought I would mention that I personally use Snapshot.
The thing about this program I love is that all you need to do is select the
image you want to restore to from within Windows and then the program will
replace the windows image on next windows restart so is completely
accessible and easy to use.
I now do this routinely at the slightest sign of trouble in Windows. For
example I lost sound through one channel last night and instead of spending
hours sorting it out I just ran snapshot to go back to a fully working
image.
Just to be clear when you run a snapshot image creation it is a full image
to restore from like Norton Ghost or Image for Windows.
I create a fresh snapshot image every time I successfully install a new
program.
The developers also provide an iso file to burn a bootable DVD disc which
will allow you to point to a snapshot image for restore through PC Dos .
They have also provided me with suggested script for a bat file which could
automate this whole process for someone not sighted. I must confess I have
not created this bat file though and will probably rely upon sighted help
if I cannot get into Windows at all to run the normal snapshot restore on
reboot facility.
I know it is not what you are asking but I have been really pleased with
Snapshot so far and it knocks spots off utilities like Norton Ghost etc. and
from memory was not that expensive. The developers are committed to
maintaining accessibility and have apparently several blind users in
Germany.

Subject: Image for Windows, am I remembering these steps correctly?
So, I have an old version of Terrabyte Unlimited's Image for Windows. I
think it's version 2 point something. It's not the latest build of 2, but,
it does work. Anyway, I do have my system set to boot automatically to CD.
I don't have to push F12, or any weird keys to get to the boot menu. I
don't have to do anything. just pop in the disc, turn on the system, and
boom! If the disc is bootable, it'll boot to the CD media before the hard
drive. This has thoroughly been tested, and I know it's working correctly.
This leads me to my question. I've not used Image for windows in literally,
years! I found it on an old CD rom I found in a drawer, and figured, you
know... let's install this thing. So, I'm about to make a backup on to a
set of DVD's. That isn't an issue. I won't havbe any trouble with that, I
don't think. My question however is, god forbid this day comes, but if! I
wind up not being able to boot, and I crash and burn really bad, am I
recalling these keystrokes correctly in the correct order to get the thing
restored?
1. Put the first DVD of the set in the drive and boot to it.
2. Wait until it ejects, then pop in the last DVD of the set, then hit
enter.
3. When the last DVD ejects, pop the first DVD of the set back in again,
then press enter, followed by y for yes, then enter again.
4. Once the first disc ejects, put the second disc in, then hit enter.
5. When the second disc ejects, put in the 3rd disc, then hit enter, etc.
etc.
Once all done, and the last DVD ejects, close my drive, then hit enter a
final time. My system then should reboot, and I'll be up and running.
Am I remembering this correctly, or am I ever? ever! so slightly off.
Chris.
