David,
Thanks for the quick response. I did manage to find the app and play a bit
with it. It's too bad that we can't use whatever TTS we wish to use, as I'm
honestly not too terribly fond of Tom and Symantha. I can stomach through
them, but that's about it, at best. LOL!
Chris.

I just Google Kindle for PC with Accessibility Plugin and follow the link.
The download , unlike the standard app is over 200mb as it includes the
TTS
engines so you can tell you have the right one from the size.
It is accessible in as much as you can get the book running in continuous
reading mode using its inbuilt Scansoft TTS, I think it is Tom and
Samantha
as the voice options available. You can pause reading and resume but you
will not find all the navigation flexibility that you would have for
example
in the iOS app. It also does not allow copying and pasting of text
and
as far as I am aware you cannot for example spell individual words which
is
a drawback for study purposes.
You can however sync your reading position across devices.
It is useful to have as a free option however and when I was doing my PhD
if
a book was important enough I would get the Kindle version as well as
scanning the book as it meant that I had a perfect electronic copy to
refer
to in the event of encountering the inevitable scanning errors in a 300
plus
page book. I could then if necessary use the scanned version to if
necessary
copy text and spell words etc. whilst relying upon the Kindle version for
general reading of the text.
With the advent of the iOS app with its increased accessibility this
process
is arguably no longer necessary .

Subject: Kindle app for PC?
Somewhere, I heard that the Kindle app for PC was accessible, provided
that
you get the accessible version. So, I'd like to inquire on where one goes
on the Amazon web site to get it, and basically, just over all, get some
more information on how it works. Does it have it's own TTS, or do I need
to use my own Sapi voices that I already have instaled. I have a book I
just purchased, which I cannot wait! to read, and figured it would be so
nice to be able to read it from my pc. I know beyond a doubt it'll work
on
my IPhone, IPad, and both my Android devices, but, I just figured this
would
be a really really nice touch.
Chris.
