Hi Chris Firstly, you did right to post this in this group. It’s not really appropriate for Mac Access, although at present we’re not talking about the virtual machine itself.
Windows 7 and 8 probably won’t work under Fusion 5 because it doesn’t support the AFI technologies which Microsoft now uses. Essentially, they are handling EFI in software, emulating the way that Apple does it in hardware. That’s because millions of computer systems are still stuck in the mid 70s and still use the old BIOS technologies. Anyway, I should perhaps qualify what I’m saying. I think some have managed to get Windows 7 to work, as long as they don’t update to Windows 7 SP1. Above and beyond that, I think you’ll struggle, to be honest. I would also recommend that the upgrade to Fusion 6 would be a very worthwhile investment. I use it all the time now at work, and it saves me so much hassle. I no longer need to carry two or even three laptops around with me.
