There is an app called istumbler. It will not only find all the
wireless networks around you, but it will give you stats such as what
channel they're on, and what encryption (if any) they use. That will
help you to determine which channel to use for your own wireless
network. I used it here to determine that most folks were on channel
6, so I set mine to 11.
It will also find bluetooth setups, bonjure services, and more. You
