Hi Roger Yes, this was the point Lynne was trying to make I think. There are no regulations in some countries, but sadly, honesty cannot always be a virtue which one can just presume. Therefore, I totally agree with the issues regarding where mail is stored.
We here at Mac Access have some clients who regularly use our services to send/receive business-critical mail. Much of it is internal and, as such, only people behind our servers can see it and then it’s only visible to those for whom it was intended. I can only speak for the way we operate. However, we here at Mac Access give our clients a 100% guarantee of integrity and privacy. We do not, in any way whatsoever, have access to other client’s mail, or other mission-critical data that may be stored on our servers. Backups are, of course, something which we do daily. All data is securely stored, and encrypted. The kind of encryption we use is system-wide. I’ll go into more detail about that in a future message. But for now, folks, we have much work to get on with and little time in which to do it. I say that because our current mail server is living on borrowed time. I’ll say more about that soon. Roger, I haven’t forgotten your kind offer. We’ll be in touch shortly. Regardless of which approach one might prefer, there are clearly issues with cloud computing which might have passed people by. If based across the Atlantic, then, as I understand it, information is accessible in ways which it might not be in other countries. Perhaps this may not be a concern to some, however, if one is going to want to write sensitive information in e-mail messages, it could just be worth knowing where your messages are stored and how they might be accessed.
