Hi! I mentioned on list that I have a Yamaha Music Synthesiser and since that time some folks have written to me privately asking about the model number.
The Yamaha Synthesiser I own is a MX49 which retails in the U.K. For around 600 pounds if I recall and they're still available in Australia, you can check it out at http://www.yamahamusic.com.au The model up from the MX49 is the MX65, the 49 and 65 numbers refer to the number of keyboard keys. The MX49 will require you to run it through a mixing console or some powered speakers so take note of that, I run it through my Bose Soundlink Mini II at the present and it sounds mighty impressive, heaps of sample from the Yamaha Montif range to keep you busy. The Synthesiser is reasonably easy to navigate around, it has buttons to get you in and out of menus and to make adjustments as well as a dial that clicks as turned, the dial doesn't seem to wrap around either so you're either at the start or the end of a selection, you can't go any further. I remember when I bought the Synthesiser and started exploring some of its facilities, it didn't take me long to discover where notes played in tunes I know cam from, obviously not from a MX49 but from a Yamaha Synthesiser of some kind, Dire Straight's Brothers In Arms track is a perfect example, didn't take me long to find the Lesely organ effects used in that track. ********** "And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space cause there's bugger-all down here on earth."
