Hi Folks!

Australia is in the grip of a Federal Election campaign right now so it is refreshing to my ears to hear another topic raised on the talkback airwaves - even though the discussion deals with an up serge in the stealing of smart phones or perhaps an up serge in the snatching of smart phones might be a better way of describing it -.

So this got me wondering about the security features and functions available in Android.

I know that the user can reset and manage his/her device from their Google account and these settings range from novice to advanced and also depend on what sort of access level your device has to your account.

My question relates to the screen that comes up when you hold down power, volume and the home keys on say a Samsung phone.

When this combination is used a screen comes up with various options for the phone to be reset, reformatted and so on.

So here’s the situation, supposing your phone is stolen and ends up in the hands of someone wanting to make a quick buck. They activate the screen with home-power and volume down and choose to erase or format the phone, is your data protected in any way by the phone asking for fingerprint ID or your password or does the format/erase mode go straight into operation once invoked from the menu.
