Thanks to another list member for sending me this, I now have a good excuse to upgrade my Raspberry Pi which i think is the Second Generation, I've had it for three years and I had planned to use it in my Doorbell system. The article linked to here describes how to install and run Windows 10 on a Raspberry Pi Forth Generation system and I think this may just be more practical for my needs. I don't think I'll be able to get the Raspberry Pi to actually talk as we know of our Windows, Mac and other computer systems talking but at least I'll have access to the pi via my network and most likely better access than I've had thus far. So what will my doorbell system do? Many things and I have the kit here ready to be built up. The Doorbell will send SMS text messages and email when the doorbell is pressed. Further to this you can add a camera to take a photo of the person pressing the bell and a fingerprint reader, the fingerprint of the person pressing the button can be matched with a text label - hence a name -. And all that's just to start with, the whole thing is completely programmable thus incredibly flexible. http://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-set-up-windows-10-on-the-raspberry-pi/?ftag=TREe09998f&bhid=26102470044791535943560319891894
