Hello everybody As I believe I have mentioned on list before now, I'm now the proud ownder of a high-end Samsung WBBJ-365 sound bar. Yes, I'm well aware that there are those on list who would poo-poo sound bar technologies. And, I cannot deny that until very recently I was a little disappointed in my bar's overall performance.
However, all that change on Wednesday of this week, when I decided to relocate my bar to see whether the range was restricted between the bar and TV. I put the bar itself on the top of a room devider, which stands just under 9 meters tall. The sub-woofer, I left on the floor before my TV cabinet. When I powered on the system, for the first few seconds a message appeared on the Bar's LCD display, so my visual assistent said, informing me of an environmental change. Then, the system reccfigured itself, and the sound started to work. At that time, I was absolutely astounded by the change. In it's new orientation, the bar it's sounds utterly fantastic! I'm now getting a totally room-filling sound, with the 6 internal speaker system looking down at the listener. The bar used to live on the front of my TV cabinet, but as I now realise, that was a big mistake. The audio, even to someone such as myself who has a hearing impairment, is so much clearer, and the separation between speakers is so much more pronounced. Now I understand why Samsung cakl these things "Smart" devices. Quite apart from being able to stream audio from other devices such as Samsung phone directly to the TV and, subesquently, to the bar, the bar senses it's acoustic environment. Now, I am really gejting the best out of it. I still plan to add a couple of satellite speaker situated at the other end of the lounge. I may even push the boat out and add a couple more behind the couch, so that whereever you are in the room, the sound is truly surrounding the listener. Now, I do fully appreciate why people may go for the more treditional surround sound receiver. Without trying one in here, I really couldn't say whether or not it was be better for me. But for the time being also least, I'm more than happy with what I have. The acoustic change I made to it this week has increased performance beyond what expectations, and I'm really pleased. To me, my TV audio has never sounded clearer or better than it now does! ============================== My Compliments And Kindest Regards Gordon Smith 'Accessibility And Information Technology Support Specialist ------------------------------
