I finally purchased one.
I had hoped that I may have the Echo by the end of the week however the
seller is out of stock so I'll have to wait.
Unfortunately the Alexa App is not available in Australia via the IOS
Apps Store or Google Play Store so I'm going to have to use the web
interface to connect the device to my Wi-Fi network and that won't be
too difficult.
I'll be doing the connection through the PC so all I have to do is to
plug in my Asus USB Wi-Fi adapter to do the Wi-Fi connection stuff,
sounds like fun!
The Echo won't be capable of performing all tasks due to my location -
I'm in Australia and not in the US or UK - but I should get a lot out of
the device.
I already know several people in Australia who have configured these
devices and the main problem they have run into is the reading of phone
numbers and such - we have 8 digit phone numbers out here whereas the US
has 7 -.
