You leave your light switches on so that current is applied to the smart bolb all the time which makes sense as the bolb needs to communicate with the Wemo Wi-Fi center.

Each bolb takes 10 watts at maximum power and gives at an equivalent of 60 watts in light, the bolbs are a LED kind.

As for the fitting? Its a standard fitting of some kind, probably a screw fitting - you screw the bolb into the socket - though we don't actually use that fitting here, we have a "Twist" type of arrangement - you place the bolb in the socket and twist it into place -, I'm assuming of course and haven't actually seen the bolbs yet though they're due today and I have my local Sparky on standby should I need to do any replacement of light fittings.

I've only ordered the Wemo starter kit thus far - two bolbs and the Wemo Smart Wi-Fi unit - so at very worst I only need to replace two fittings and that's worth every penny for test purposes.

Judging by the accessibility thus far of the Wemo App and so on I think the Wemo project will be a most worthwhile one.

I've also been looking at other Wemo devices such as the Netcam.

Anyway more on all this later on today.

I presume these fit in standard light elements? If so, could be a worth while
investment although I’m curious as to how your existing light switches would
behave. Mine are quite modern, but not anything more than an off/on switch.

Hi!
I just placed an order for a Belkin Wemo Smart Light Bulb Starter Kit - two 10
watt LED bulbs and the Belkin Wemo smartlink Wi-Fi device -.
I'm curious to see if Amazon Alexa can control these bulbs, I already know that
the Smart App is reasonably accessible.
I'll let the list know how I get on.
