I bought one of these last week and it arrived yesterday morning.
I've just managed to set the device up and get it going and the long
time taken to set the Netcam device up is to errors made in the setup by
Yours Truly.
Setup is seimple enough and similar to many devices on the market these
days, you connect your Smart Phone to the Wi-Fi connection of the Netcam
and then run the App.
The App asks if you wish to set up a new Webcom, you answer yes and
follow the instructions.
Its after I had followed all the instructions that I got a little confused.
There's a up/down toggle switch at the back of the Netcam that toggles
between "Setup" and "Normal" operations mode.
At the end of the setup instructions the user is instructed to toggle
the switch "Down", this puts the Netcam into standard operations mode
thus the Netcam connects to the chosen Wi-Fi network etc.
I thought the procedure was to move the switch down and then up again -
thinking the switch was an on/off toggle thus I would be initialising
the camera.
So with that out of the way it was time to explore the Netcam App and
associated services.
One of the first things the user sees in the Netcam App having completed
the setup is the "Play" button and I tell you now its very odd indeed
when you hear yourself a second later recorded on your Netcam and
streamed back to your phone.
At this point you can "Record" the video directly to your phone.
I've subscribed to the additional Netcam service which keeps video clips
captured by the camera for 14 days, the camera can start capturing when
it detects motion.
At the point of motion detection the user can be notified by an eMail or
push notifications.
Clips kept in the cloud can be browsed, downloaded to your phone or
deleted from the Netcam App.
Naturally I can't see the video but I do know that the audio captured
via the camera's microphone is astonishingly good, microphone is
incredibly sensitive.
