I’m out of the IOS game pretty much now having replaced my iPhone 6 with a Sony Xperia X-Performance model. As yet I’ve not managed to get Google Talkback up and running or even run a setup so I’m going to require an extra pair of eyeballs, they’ll be rolling up here tomorrow <smile> and we’ll see what we make of the Sony then. I’m very much looking forward to using the Son, after all - as list members will rightly point out - the world is not just Samsung. I can tell you now that the Sony has a glass front and a brushed aluminium back, the frame is a hard plastic construction. The phone is heavier I think than the Samsung Galaxy S8 but it feels tougher. The first think you notice about the Sony Xperia X-Performance are the two identical speakers, one at each end so working out where the top of the phone is can be a bit of a challenge but you do need to know the top so you can orient the phone and be sure you’re pressing the right end of the volume up/down rocker. Thankfully there’s a good couple of landmarks for orientating the phone, the front facing camera is raised and can be found at the top right-hand corner of the screen. The headphones socket is on the top edge of the phone. Interestingly with the Sony phone the fingerprinted reader is mounted in the power key which is found on the right-hand side above the volume control. The phone doesn’t have a physical hold button which may prove a slight problem with Talkback? Will have to wait and seen but its something I’m going to have to get used to given so many Android devices do not have physical Home buttons anyway. There’s a dedicated camera button near the bottom of the phone on the right-hand side which seems to me a great addition though I can’t say yet whether this button is programmable. On the top left-hand side is the easily removable tray for loading SIM and SD card. a Micro USB port is found on the bottom of the phone. More details as they come to hand.
