I'm very glad to report that the Companion software for the Sony xPeria
X-Performance phone is very accessible using Windows, I've not yet tried
it using my Mac but the assumption is - given the software uses a HTML
Interface - that accessibility won't be a problem there either.
The Companion software allows the backing up and restoration of the full
phone content to a computer or to your Google drive if you have one.
The software has sections for transfering music, photos and other
media/files to the phone thus making the process really easy for anyone
who isn't a tech wizard and isn't sure where exactly files should be
placed on the phone.
Away from the companion software the phone can be backuped up or
restored using the Settings and the appropriate functions.
From the phone itself the user can backup/restore using a SD card, USB
stick or to your Sony xPeria account - again accessible through your
Google account if you prefer -.
I've tried resetting the phone and then restoring from a backup I made
on my computer, works a breeze and the phone came back to life exactly
how I left it before resetting and going through the Setup wizard again.
To me the Backing up and restoration of content to where things were
before the data loss is a huge selling point for the xPeria phone and to
my knowledge what I've outlined can't be done with any of the Samsung
phones for example, you can backup bits and pieces - contacts for
example - but you cannot get a phone back to the working condition you
had it in before data loss or other technical glitch.
