Hi!
On the subject of IOS devices, is there any way of a total backup of an
IOS device and a total restore should anything go wrong?
I don't use my IOS device that much which - in any case isn't all that
spectacular in the IOS workd -, my device is an iPhone 6 and I've been
offered better numerous times but the iPhone 6 will have to do me as all
other models of IOS devices don't fit my Arcam Portable DAC but I'm
waffling again.
I ask the question regarding backup from a curious point of view more
than anything else.
By default Android devices only backup certain aspects such as contacts
and other related data it seems.
I have however just encountered one exception to this backup rule and
that's my new Sony xPeria X-Performance phone which offers a range of
complete backup and restore options on the phone.
For example you can backup all the contents of the phone to the Cloud or
- if you'd prefer - you can select another backup target such as an
inserted SD card, a USB stick or backup to your PC or Mac with the
Xperia backup/restore utilities available for download from the xPeria
web site.
These utilities are perfectly accessible given that they use a HTML
Interface.
So what happens when you restore a backup? Well I can trufully say that
you'll be put back at the point where your phone was when the last
backup was made, truly and absolutely.
I've tried this myself so I know exactly what I'm talking about.
I reset my phone and - after completing the setup process for the phone
again - I restored a backup made from the PC and congratulations!
everything I had on the phone - including speech settings etc- was on
the device exactly as I left it when the device was backed up.
I'm since repeated the procedure installing from a SD card and the
Cloud, with the same results.

Good morning everybody
I just thought I'd give the group the heads-up. Apple has today announced that
they intend to release the first public beta, to non-developers, of iOS11
before the end of June. This means that, as long as you're willing to accept
the operating system for what it is, and there's bound to be some bugs, you can
see what's on offer.
At this point, I cannot talk about new features which are not already known,
including aeessibility features. But a feature that does spring to mind is
indoor maps, for malls and airports, etc.. I believe that this will initially
be limited to the US only. But Apple will be rolling this out across the globe
by the time of the pullic final version which is released before the end of
October, all being well.
