I take your point and its even a nuisance for people who have two capable hands.

Firstly you've got to get your hands around the back and that's not easy somtimes given the narrow gap - which seems to be narrower than it was with the 2011 iMac I last had - between bottom of stand and bottom of machine to plug the cables into the ports on the rear of the machine.

Before all that of course one has to get around to the back of the iMac itself to thread the cables through the whole in the stand ready for connection.

I often wondered why such juseful connections such as the SD Card slot couldn't have been mounted on the front.

Having said all that I do acknowledge that cable connections from the back of the machine do make for a neater arrangement than what would have been the case if the conenctions had been on the front or the sides.

With a Macbook ther'es little choice, the connections must be on the sides or no connections at all.

Nice sounding machine, however I prefer notebooks like the Macbook, Macbook Pro

Hi!

This concerns the current 2017 iMac Models and not the later models that will
be released in a couple of months time.

I just bought myself a 2.5 inch iMac - current 2017 model -.

I went for the best specs I could buy and perhaps its just as well I did.

I considered carefully the subject of memory and decided to go for the full
amount of 32GB rather than purchasing 8 or 16GB and then upgrading.

It turns out that the iMac 21.5 inch models are sealed configurations thus they
cannot have any upgrades to the configuration applied by the user.

The same applies to the 27 inch model however the memory modules can be
accessed via a slot in the back of the machine.

I paid $160 extra for the memory upgrade from 8GB to 32GB which I didn't
consider unreasonable given upgrading memory is't a job I'm comfortable with
thus I would have had to pay someone to do the job so - I'm willing to bet that
all things considered - the upgrade price would have been much the same had I
organised this after the purchase.

Other than that? Well I think the iMac is a truly superb machine without a
doubt.

My machine runs the latest Intel i& Quad Core processor at 3.6GHZ twith turbo
boost up to 4.10GHZ.

I found a utility called Turbo Switch which allows the users to switch turbo
mode on and off - much like the older Pc's which had a turbo button -, the
people at Apple assume that developers have enough inteligence when writing
software to enable or disable the turbo facility as they see fit.

I find the port layout fascinating, 4 USB 3.0 ports and two Thunderbolt III?SB
C ports so time to get some USB accessories and adapters to make full use of
these.
