Hi there!
I’ve had my Sony Android Television for over a year now and - up till
now _ thought that Sony were the only manufacturer of these.
TCL have now gotten into the game of Android Television which can only
be a great step forward.
So what are the advantages as far as Visually Impaired people are
concerned? Put simply Voice and Accessibility.
Think of an Android Television as a larger than life Android Phone or
tablet as that’s pretty much what it is, a Television running the Google
Android Operating system thus those Apps we depend on for accessibility
to our Android phones such as Google Talkback can be run on the
Television giving us access to Apps from a Television.
The TCL also has Googles Voice Search technology incorporated into the
set and this is activated through the remote control however it appears
that the Voice Recognition remote does not come with all models as a
standard feature.
I like my Sony and - now I have it set the way I want it - wouldn’t be
without it but I will go out and try one of the TCL sets, just because
its Android certainly doesn’t mean its exactly the same as the set I
have and - for all I know - may behave in a slightly different way,
anyway follow me on Twitter if you like @grtdane to see what I find.
