I have to admit to not being absolutely up to date with this, the system
I have was installed around about 7 years ago I think and still works.
I bought a cheap weather station from eBay at the time and it looked
like something out of a serial packet.
Quite a bit of time was spent by my Father and I installing the sensors
but eventually everything came together, the sensors are outside and
they wirelessly transmit information to the box inside. the sensors
measure wind pressure, rain fall, humidity and temperature.
So to the box, the most important part of the system if you like which
as two screens, one showing conditions inside the building whilst the
other shows conditions outside as measured by the sensors.
The box is attached to a wall and is connected to a Windows computer by
the use of a USB connecting lead.
So now to the software and this is the most difficult thing I found,
there's a package called Cumulous which is available free of charge and
- as the name suggests - its a very power weather station manager.
The software does have to be configured to match your weather station
and many preconfigured models can be found however mine had to be
customised so I used Google for help and someone else I know who has set
up one of these beasts.
So what do you get when its all up and running? A whole screen of
information from your station along with the ability to post updates on
the Web, Twittter and facebook.
As for IOS and Android? Ihave no idea what's out there though I know of
a company called Orogon Scientific that sell a whole range of weather
stations so that would be my first port of call to look for something
new if you don't want to go down the road I did.
Last I heard, accessible Weather Station systems for Android were few
and far between but that was some time ago and I'm sure things have changed.
Anyway enjoy your weather, whatever the weather and for everyone's
information, temperature in Melton South right now - where I live - is 7
degrees so if you wish to keep track of what my weather is doing then
ask Google, "What's the current temperature in Melton South, Victoria
Australia".

Hello everybody
This is a subject which we over here in the UK seem to talk about
quite a lot. The weather. I’d imagine it’s the same the world over,
it’s a great way to bore those you’d rather not be speaking too. ;-)
Anyway, my reason for posting. I’m curious to know what the current
situation is regarding accessible weather stations? I’m confident that
things will have changed quite a lot recently, and I know a couple of
people on list do have these technologies.
