Recipes aren’t something I use my devices for, to be honest. But yes, as an
experiment, I tried the Code In The Hole request as it’s one of my favourite
meals. The good old Yorkshire pudding is most definitely one of England’s
finest contributions to modern civilisation as a whole. ;-)

There is, in fact, much to recommend the Google Home. Whether you go for the
full size Home device, or for the Mini. Or, for that matter, the Google Home
Max. I’m actually toying with that idea as an alternative to the Echo Show. One
thing I must say about Google is that they know what their core industry is,
and they concentrate on the things that they do best. The fact that they saw a
neish in the market for audio equipment supporting Google’s core functionality
as well as decent audio is not, I think, a coincidence.

That said, to be utterly fair, there is much to recommend the Amazon Echo
devices for as well. Indeed, my great nephew uses the Echo Dot which I bought
him for Christmas last year to great effect in terms of his education. One of
the most valued functions, for him at least, is as a spell-checker. If he’s
unsure how to spell a word, he simply asks Alexa. She then just spells the word
for him.

I agree with you regarding the audio from the Google Mini which isn't bad at
all and certainly not what I'd call average, I was quite surprised to hear the
audio from the Google Home, if you're lookin for very average audio out of a
device then the Echo Dot certainly gives you that.

Unfortunately Google Home cannot play Audio books as Amazon Echo can at this
time according to my research but it is a project in progress.

I really love the way Google home handles recipes, giving you step-by-step
instructions thus you have the ability to take notes and so on, just
plain brilliant the way these are handled.
