I received the Philips WeCall conference speaker today and have been using the product for the last 2 hours. I intend writing a full review of this product along with comparisons to the Jabra Speak 510 which is a similar portable conference speakerphone in the next few weeks. Both are wonderful products to use but both have up and down sides which I’ll detail in my review. And so to the Philips WeCall Conference Speaker which is an amazing piece of kit for its size, the WeCall is 4 inches square and thus could be easily transported anywhere in a pocket though I prefer the supplied carry case. The WeCall has 2 modes of connectivity either by Bluetooth for Mobile phones and Tablets or via the use of the supplied USB cable to connect as a Conference Speakerphone to your Mac or PC for use with Skype or any other VOIP/Calling software. There are 2 pairs of 2 buttons on the top of the Speaker set diagonally apart in separate corners of the unit, the pair toward you adjust the volume and the other 2 are used to answer/end calls and mute the WeCall’s 4 microphones. The Micro USB socket is on the right hand side of the WeCall. There are 3 controls found at the bottom of the WeCall, a source connection switch - USB or Bluetooth -, a mains power switch and a Bluetooth pairing button. The WeCall has no voice guidance system so you may have to read the instruction manual to pair the phone to your mobile device. I’ve performed this procedure so many times before so the pairing process was second nature to me, I just had to remember to watch what the iPhone was showing on the Bluetooth screen under settings and then double-tap the Philips WeCall when it finally appeared. Sound is clean though you do notice the smaller speaker of the WeCall when compared to the Jabra Speak 510. Callers at the other end of my calls had no trouble hearing me through the Philips WeCall Conference speaker even with added noise, for this test I turned my Dyson Hot+Cool purifier towers fan up to speed 10 to create a fair amount of noise. I also used the Voicemail of my VOIP system to record some Voicemails whilst this noise was going on. I then played them back to see how much of the noise the WeCall could cancel and cancel the noise the WeCall certainly does so one can see from this test that the WeCall will work quite well in a small and reasonably noisy conference setup. That’s all for now.
