Walter, It sounds as if you have bad solder joints in the power supplies. Please check soldering on the regulators. If certain voltages are missing the unit will go into protect and turn off. As you stated that you can turn the unit on and off a few times and it works, well at least you get sound. That tells me that your speakers are ok and the unit is not turning off due to an external problem. like defective/shorted wiring or other nonsense. Now with the unit playing you have no display, This problem is directly connected to the power supply. If it were the micro, the unit would not be coming out of protect or run at at all. Look for hot spots around resistors, solder joints on the regulators, soldering on the connectors that go between the boards. Basically inspect the entire unit. Happy Hunting Joe
