Yes, Joe. The replacement I used didn't have an "A" on the end, but it does
have a black "dot" just after the STR*, which they say means the same thing.
Didn't notice any "blooming" of the picture.

LLW

LeRoy,
You say "I replaced the parts again with good Generics from a reliable
source"

Not to say thats not so, and not so much questioning source reliability
as to the HOW GOOD Generic.... (Thats always been a problem, i've had to
many to even want to remember)....

ORION#: (I2B4901100)
You sure your generic is a (STR30110A)
and not a (STR30110) < no (A) enough difference to be the problem
causer...

What happens when you adjust screen up & down.... Does it bloom, does B+
vdc regulation change .... Does fly feel a bit warmer then normal.....

Just ask yourself this: "WHY ME" :^) "joe"

Hi members,
I replaced the Reg IC (STR30110A), and the H.O.T. (2SD2499) and an open
R515 (1.6 ohm 3 watt), about 3 months ago in this "Top of the line"
Orion TV. Now it has came back to haunt me, with the same parts blown
again. I replaced the parts again with good Generics from a reliable
source. I also replaced the 1 @ 160 volt elect. cap. in the horz driver
ckt.(Even though it tested OK).
The picture looks real good, but both heat sinks seem to be running
quite Hot. Especially the H.O.T heat sink.
The B+ measures 121.7 volts, and I am
wondering if that is too high for this set, since the Regulator is an
STR30110A. You would think the B+ should be only 110 volts. NO ?
Any advice is appreciated,
LLW
