This unit went out a week ago, I just wanted to make sure it didn't come back.
This was really a unique situation, I think. Kept coming back with bad solder
connections in different
circuits.
Final tally:
1. Hum in audio. Found bad caps on NCDG5010..front panel PCB. Caps around Q951, Q953,
Q952. Also, solder
connections on transistors
2. Then found bad solder, circuit traces NCAR4985 main PCB near Q971, Q972, 73, 74,
R1901-1904. Checked
traces, and repaired on a very heat stressed PCB.
3. Unit came back no volume in one channel(left I think). Found ring crack on volume
control.
4. Then unit came back, no sound in left channel. Had to remove the heat sink and
circuit from center of
unit to get to the PCB with the outputs on it #NCAF4988. Q512 had bad solder on it.
Repaired connections.
This is another one that ate my time, but I got paid.

Subject: [Techs] TA Onkyo TS-SV919THX..No left channel(It's back again...)

This unit came if for a hum in speakers. This was repaired by replacing many caps
supplying the -/+ 5v
regs.
Took it home, he brought it back for no left channel.
Found ring crack on volume control.repaired, had it all hooked up when he got here so
he could check it
out..took it home and no left channel...AGAIN.
So, it's back now..Does anyone have suggestion before I rip this apart again? I
damaged the ribbon cable
from the front control..that I had to repair from taking this apart so many times.
I did find I have audio signal from the PCB with the volume control on all channels.
I do not have any signal getting to the output transistor for the left channel. This
thing is become a
pain as there are no markings on the printed side of this board. I do have a partial
schematic thanks to
Mr. Larkman.
Any ideas, suggestions would be appreciated..
Thank you.
