Mike, Does that set have PIP? If so, try bypassing it to see if tunere functions come back. I made up a bypass module just for checking. Then if it is the problem, I just leave it in & make another from the VP plug. Hint: I found the monolythic .01' caps work great! The lead spacing is just perfect to go between the pins.
