Joe, yes it can. Also, you have to repair the trace from that capacitor you replaced. Electrolytic may have eaten through the traces. Though, I think the cylinder should still rotate when you insert a tape, so you may have different problems. Sharp vcr VC-A206U MBK-16 chassis No head or capstan rotation. Had notation to change 10uf cap on capstan motor board if no capstan rotation, did that but no go. Cleaned mode switch which I know causes several problems, still no go. Will a defective mode switch cause these problems...???
