Make:RCA
Model:V301
Problem: "Make it work"
Schematic was from one of the first 3 volumes of the RCA "Redbooks"

Total cap replacement, found 2 resistors out of tolerance. 3 bad tubes- 2
6F6 and 6SK7

Spent days/ weeks trying to figure out why band "B" would not work. Subbed
6SA7 mixer tube, double checked all my connections, etc. Finally with the
help of Chester, he found the answer . A .0033 MFD cap had been misconnected
to the osc selector wafer switch WRONG AT THE FACTORY!
The set could have never worked properly for over the last 50+ years.

Set works great now, but we could use an original T/T for it, if anyone has
one.

Chester thought up a fantastic troubleshooting method for these old sets.

With the radio UNPLUGGED:
If you are having problems in the osc ckt., pull the osc tube and inject an
RF signal (We used 9.5 meg in this case ) into the control grid.
Put a scope on the cathode.
Switch thru the bands and you will see a definate change in the waveform on
the defective band. Then just trace thru with the scope till you find where
the RF signal disappears.
That is what Chester did to find the problem.
