Hi members,
The DVD player works OK on this unit.
The problem is in the VCR deck.
It will load, and unload the cassette, but the capstun motor does not turn
on.
As a result, there is no takeup on the tape when it ejects the cassette, and
therefore eats the tape.
I tried to dis-assemble the unit to check the mode switch for corrosion. I
found it to be a much bigger job then I expected.
A large spring about 1/2 inch in diameter, and 1/2 inch long, fell out from
under the deck. I might need a service manual before proceeding with further
repairs, but if someone could at least give me the part number for the mode
switch, and tell me where the spring should be installed, I might be able to
get by.
I was going to back out of this job, but, after re-assembling the unit, the
drum motor spins at power turn on, and the cassette-in light blinks. I think
the spring is causing my new symptoms, or, maybe I just screwed up the mech
alignment. I need to at least restore the unit to the same condition as it
was, before I made it worse. Cause the DVD player won't activate, until I
fix the VCR. Another set from hell,...again.

Any help is appreciated,
LLW
