Hi Tony

Our shop was flooded Aug 1, we had 7ft,in our shop, our water came from
creek and sewage water. We have not had to much success with anything we
have tried. It could just be the had water has a high ph factor. But here's
my best suggestion. Dish soap like dawn and a soft toothbrush. If you don't
use the toothbrush. They look clean till they dry and then you still see the
mud you missed. After washing, rinse with fresh water and you can dry them
in the oven, if you have an oven with a pilot, that's fine, if not use the
lowest setting. Pilot only leave them dry completely for two-to-three days.
Lowest setting, I'm not sure, the trick is to make sure they are completely
dry, and it does take days. We've tried heat guns, blow dryers. But the oven
is most though; depending on how many you have you can wash them and put
them in the sun, till it's their turn in the oven. A friend said he was
going to try some type of Alcohol that paint stores sell. I don't know if
that works.

Believe me when I tell you I know some of your pain. FEMA did nothing for
us, since all our lose was business related and they only help residents. My
understanding that most of the residents here who lost heaters, water
heaters and washer, dryers, are not happy with FEMA either. Grants where
only 1-3,000. Anything more where loans, and you needed A1 credit to get
them.

Subject: [Techs] Ivan / flood-water soaked electronics

my home and part of my business were destroyed by a flood caused by
hurricane Ivan, I live next to the Cullasaja river in Franklin NC, it is
near the Peeks Creek community, several people lost there lives and many
homes were destroyed as was mine. I had lots of home theater / PC's and TV's
in my garage and living space there(some of it new)...we had three feet of
water/mud inside...I am trying to dry out and hopefully salvage as much as
possible, I need some kind of circuit board cleaner that is cheap that I can
buy maybe a case to start with. any tips or help greatly appreciated.I had
no insurance and looks like Fema doesn't help much.
