I have followed this discussion with interest, and am wondering: Doesn't it seem that RCA has knowingly caused a situation where their servicecenters MUST send the bad set to them for the extremely cheap fix? I mean, after all, surely they have a program, and a cable that plugs into the eeprom board and downloads the basic settings, right? Why not make them available to the servicecenters as well? I'll tell you why $248 pure profit for RCA per set.
