Why are you using inetd for qmail? I know Dan recommends using tcpserver
now, which is why pretty much all of the information out there deals with
it. Inetd has performace issues, if I remember correctly, especially when
dealing with high-volume servers. TCPserver, imho, is also pretty easy to
use. So my first suggestion would be to switch over if you can. If
not...let me look over some old notes, and I'll get back to you.

Subject: [techtalk] Qmail and inetd

Hi,

I'm trying to run Mailman on a system using qmail as it's mailer (and I've
nearly given up, or started patching it).

The problem is that Mailman mails by connecting to port 25, and qmail
considers this being asked to relay mail, which it doesn't like to do.
Does anyone know how to convince qmail controlled by inetd (not by
tcpserver, which is what the FAQs are all about) to relay for 127.0.0.1?

Mary.
