When you buy a license to run an operating system such as Windows 2000 Professional, you can't use that license to run Windows XP on some other machine when your Windows 2000 Pro system is not running. However, the opposite action is allowed. This tip guides you through the details of EULAs and the rules for downgrading and transferring licenses.
