This is the primary client location where the business users reside. *JOB TITLE: Project Manager*** Location: Downtown, NYC Duration: 6 months + Must have financial services, PMP certified *SUMMARY:* Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reviews project proposals or plan to determine time frames, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects. Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of a project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel. Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority. Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within prescribed budget. Reviews status reports prepared by project members, and modifies schedules or plans as required. Prepares project reports for management, client, or others. Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems EDUCATION: Minimum BA/BS degree, MBA or MS (Computer Science) a plus. Understanding of project management practices; PMP certification, a strong plus not required. Must have excellent organization skills and be detailed oriented with strong follow-up skills. Ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a dynamic environment and have demonstrated the ability to deliver on-time against aggressive timelines without compromising quality of deliverables. Minimum 10 + years of overall IT experience. Minimum 5 - 7 years of managing IT projects / delivery. Experience in the financial services industry; structure finance, fixed income, or the rating business a plus. Experience with working directly with a business partner: understanding their needs and directing/marshalling resources to capture their specifications/requirements and to translate and develop them into viable systems. Strong understanding and practical experience in the full software development lifecycle process and best practices (SEI CMM/CMMi, ITIL, COBIT or similar). Desirable: foundation in programming experience preferably Java/J2EE, MS SQL Server or Oracle DBMS (or Sybase DBMS), Linux, MS Windows. An understanding of the practical application of distributed architecture, web services and SOA design. Experienced in full-lifecycle software development and management experience on enterprise level multi-tiered applications. An understanding of object oriented design, database design, UML, web service integration is preferred. Experience with managing offshore or near-shore resources, a major plus. Cross cultural communication skills, a plus. Experience with RUP, AGILE and/or SCRUM (or similar [e.g., XP] software development methodologies), a plus.
