Duration is 6 Months. Rate is open but keep it low. Position Description/Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for all standard database administrative tasks, such as: proactive performance tuning and monitoring, trouble-shooting, partitioning, replication, configurations on an as needed basis. 2. Build, install, configure and maintain Oracle Databases running under UNIX env. 3. Working directly with project team in support of redesigning database for .Net application(s). 4. Perform installations, upgrades and patches to Oracle systems. 5. Conduct routine audits of all Oracle systems for compliance with established standard, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures. 6. Document configurations and maintain documentation. 7. Monitoring of our Oracle database(s) for pending problems. 8. Reporting and resolving all serious Oracle alert log messages. 9. Database reorganizations and row re-sequencing for performance. 10. Performance tuning troubleshooting and issue resolution of large, complex Enterprise Oracle environments including Oracle 8, 9i, 10g. 11. Experience using Oracle utilities and tools like Oracle SQL*Plus, SQL*DBA, SQL*Loader, Database Expander, User Manager, Session Manager, Import/Export, Backup Manager, Password Manager and Enterprise Manager. 12. Monitor and analyze user / process / file system usage and performance indicators 13. Monitor and analyze file system / database growth patterns, make recommendations, and implement required changes. 14. Update applicable administrative tracking tools. 15. Ability to work in team environment both onsite and remote and good communication skills. 16. Play a role on the system integration testing effort by testing the application and running test scripts. 17. Aptitude to participate in the staged code release process. 18. Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned. 19. Communicate with the client in a professional manner. Technical Skills: 1. 8-10 years of IT experience. 2. 5+ years of experience with Oracle 8i, 9i and 10g. 3. 5+ years of experience with SQL statements and reporting best practices. 4. 5+ years of experience data modeling and physical database layout experience. 5. Solid Oracle administration skills including: database maintenance, backup, disaster planning and recovery, monitoring and tuning and RMAN. 6. Ability to resolve performance bottlenecks using command line tools as well as GUI tools. 7. Experience with AIX, UNIX, Linux or Windows Server 2000/2003. 8. Oracle Experience in Disaster recovery, SQL Tuning, Application Clustering, Advanced Replication, Data Warehousing a plus. 9. Experience with Shell Scripting (korn/Bourne/C Shell). 10. Excellent communication skills and team focus. Desirable: 1. Experience with MSSQL server 2000 / 2005. 2. Experience with MS .Net Framework, ASP.Net, VB.Net/C#. Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will be familiar with architecture, logical and physical design, automation, documentation, installs, shell scripting, PL/SQL programming, backup & recovery, monitoring, and database and query tuning . Data designing and modeling experience. . Experience working closely with the development teams. . Good performance and tuning skill set. . Shell/korn/Bourne scripting. . Oracle support in .Net environment preferred. . MS SQL Server experience desirable. . Experience with .Net, ASP.Net, VB.Net/C# desirable.
