Ensures requirements are defined and are compliant with company and business unit standards. Also acts as a liaison between the application teams and the database teams to ensure the successful delivery and support of technical applications and solutions to the business units. Works with business representatives and apply business expertise to refine business requirements. May review, mentor, and evaluate the performance of Database teams and individuals on the teams. Duties & Responsibilities: Under general direction of the Supervisor, Data Storage & Database Administration, performs the following duties: . Makes recommendations to supervisor regarding innovative opportunities and implements approved recommendations. . Maintains an awareness of current and future information technology concepts and opportunities within Database Administration. . Manages the backup and recovery of databases for Oracle and/or MS Sqlserver. . Creates and maintains the data required for database disaster recovery. . Monitors the databases for space, integrity, and performance. . Performs database maintenance and tuning as needed. . Perform the development and implementation of physical database design. . Insures that new structures or data elements are added according to standards and guidelines . Performs SAP database support. . Supports the development of approved user accesses to corporate data. . Provides technical assistance and advice to the Application Development staff concerning database techniques. . Maintains Involvement with I.S. technical staff in order to be aware of their business and information requirements. Job Dimensions . Will determine new methods and develop new procedures for accomplishing work. . Provides work direction and assigns tasks to lower level employees. . Work is at the highest level and requires an evaluation of all known methods, company practices and goals. . Interfaces with all levels of management to negotiate project priorities and outcomes. .
