*Position: Sr. Network Engineer
Location : Irwin dale, CA *
*Duration: 9 Months* *
**JOB DESCRIPTION:*
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelors Degree in Electrical or
Computer Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of
education, training, and work experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with any of the following
technologies: IP networking and network management systems (SNMP, MIB's,
event correlation, network performance measurement)
Wireless mesh networking and low power sensor networks
Network performance measurement; RF propagation modeling and analysis
Fault tolerant network design
Embedded systems.
*GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:** *
Typically possesses nine or more years of experience in Information
Technology in TCP/IP networking, including voice, data, and transmission
networks. Demonstrated experience in the field performing physical and
conceptual analysis for communications solutions design.
Knowledge and experience with essential network technologies, network
security, communications protocols, messages and transaction standards.
Knowledge of and experience with network management, performance monitoring,
and/or optimization.
Demonstrated ability to abstract the network architecture into different
views and domains, apply critical thinking skills, technical ingenuity,
creativity, and resourcefulness to ensure the network will continue to be
viable.
Must have strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to
understand and appropriately respond to business requirements.
Demonstrated ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients,
peers, and management to develop solutions.
Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information, provide direction
and contribute to decision making.
Demonstrated familiarity with Network documentation standards and tools.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

*PREFERRED SKILLS: *
MBA/MA/MS. Demonstrated experience with network technology infrastructure
design, evaluations and/or deployments of large impact. Demonstrated
knowledge of SDLC processes, experience with Unified Modeling Language (UML)
notation, rational tools and MDA.

*TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: *
The successful candidate will serve primarily within project teams with
other architects and engineers from a variety of disciplines.
Expend significant effort in project activities and in implementing
communication solutions for the enterprise.
Typical responsibilities will include: performing data, voice, and
communication network analysis and design for both enterprise and project
purposes;
Understanding the business direction, technology/vendor directions, and
supporting the development of the enterprise network domain five year
roadmap;
Performing network analysis and design within project and program settings;
Providing technical oversight on network design in collaboration with
(Automated metering Infrastructure) AMI vendors for field test and full
scale deployment; lead operational development for network systems
management in conjunction with IT Operations and vendors;
Designing, documenting, and implementing backhaul communications, Physical
design requirements documentation and validation, designing and implementing
backhaul management system, research and develop technical requirements for
(Minority Comm's Solutions);
Developing and nurturing consensus and working-relationships with other IT
divisions to ensure the communication network can effectively evolve;
Leading or participating in the Architecture, Engineering & Design CoC,
Network/Telecommunications practice area on a regular basis;
Collaborating with other professional staff in the exchange and transfer of
technical knowledge and development of appropriate reference architecture
standards and patterns;
Working with senior architects, engineers and project engineers to ensure
implementations are consistent with the network architecture; and performing
other duties and responsibilities as assigned
