Location: Boston, MA Background an agency within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Government, facilitates and audits the acquisition of commodities, professional, general, human and social services that support the socio-economic goals of the Commonwealth including disadvantaged business, environmental, and other programs that are in the best interest of the Commonwealth. Additionally, OSD has the responsibility for the administration of printing, fleet operations and surplus personal property disposition. The Management Information Systems Unit within OSD (MIS) is responsible for the effective operation or use of all OSD on-line systems, and for providing technical support and consulting services to OSD Business Units. This includes the Local Area Network and a number of business and web applications including the Comm-PASS system. Duties seeks an experienced and qualified technical professional for a short-term engagement to provide technical support and guidance for OSD during the design, development and implementation of the Comm-PASS Quick Quote Project scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2009. The person in this position will work with the MIS UNIT and the Comm-PASS teams to ensure required technical tasks are completed as specified and on schedule. Activities to be completed include: Ø Configuration and installation of hardware/software environment Ø Establishment of system environment to support redundant download of escrowed application code, databases, files, and version control Ø Design, development, testing and implementation of data and files extract processes Ø Development of Quick Quote queries and reports as defined by business owner. Required Qualifications Ø Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Certification Ø 5+ years configuration and installation of Windows-based servers and Operating Systems. Ø 5+ years server, software and hardware support experience - Support users and network services in Windows Server Systems (NT4, 2000, 2003) and Desktop systems (Windows XP). Ø Thorough understanding of infrastructure services such as multiple Active Directory domains, DHCP, WINS, DNS, SMTP, and IIS. Ø Extensive hands on experience with Symantec Backup Exec. Ø Experience in racking and physically installing server hardware and peripheral devices. Ø Experience in Windows workstation and server Patch Management using WSUS or other tools. Ø 3+ years systems analysis and programming experience Ø Ability to relate technical concepts to non-technical personnel. Ø Capable of logical analysis for problem determination. Ø Self motivated. Ø Experience working in a team environment Ø Experience in training technical users Ø Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ø Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.
