POSITION SUMMARY: Develops front-end and middle-tier code for a web site which is currently being redesigned. Works closely with other developers, production staff, visual designers, and external partners to create rich, usable Internet applications that adhere to Web standards and best practices. RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops Web applications using JSP, XHTML/CSS, Javascript, XML/XSL, and other technologies. Creates rich web applications from graphic design deliverables and functional specifications and based on current Web standards. Works with Web producers and implementation teams to meet business needs of end users; proactively offers suggestions and solutions to business and technical problems. Unit tests web applications in common browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari) before releasing it to QA; troubleshoots and resolves issues. Creates deliverables in accordance with Web standards, and optimizes code for display in multiple browsers, operating systems, and platforms, including handheld devices and email. Additional responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent and two or more years experience with primary responsibility for developing rich Web applications are required. Must be an XHTML/CSS and Javascript expert (Jquery preferred), and be proficient with a variety of Web development technologies and tools. Experience with JSP and XSL is required; experience with Flash and .NET is strongly preferred. Good communication skills and the ability to work closely and collaboratively with teams to create best-of-breed site interfaces are necessary. Good visual design sense, an understanding of usability principles and familiarity with database design and backend application-development principles are also helpful. The ability to manage multiple priorities and projects, to take initiative, and to solve problems creatively and positively are important.
