*SUMMARY:*
Software Engineer B.S. or higher with 5 or more years of *development
experience* with an interest in performing evaluation and certification of
centrally supported *development tools*, *developer oriented support as
subject matter expert*, and responsibilities for *integrating developer
facing technologies into our standard build environment*. The candidate must
possess a working knowledge of the technologies indicated and subject matter
expertise in a subset of the technologies. This is an engineering, tools
integration, and support position. The position is for an individual
contributor reporting to the Automation Build Tools PM to *develop* and
provide tier 2 support on our automated build, packaging, and deployment
system.
The experience matrix below is highly comprehensive but does not cover all
technical areas. It is a guide and sufficiently broad to enhance the
opportunity for identifying a candidate with a good cross-section of these
skills. Preference will be given to candidates possessing both development
and *tools* *engineering* experience.
*TECHNICAL SKILLS:
*
Five or more years of experience on one or more of the following UNIX
Platforms
*Red Hat Linux, SuSE Linu**x, **AIX, Sun/Sparc*
Three or more years of experience in Java and any exposure to C/C++, C# or
Fortran.
Corresponding competency with all the following build processes/tools:
* Make, ANT, NANT, and Maven builds processes (technology appropriate),***
* One of IBM Build Forge, Continuum, Cruise Control, or similar
Application Life Cycle Management (ALM) system with Continuous Integration,*
* Knowledge/Experience with iterative development processes such as Agile
(and tools that support the process)*
* Modeling tools (IBM Rational RSM, RSA), Architecture/Re-use (e.g. IBM
Rational RSA)***
* Any experience as a contributor or moderator in the open source
community considered a plus.*
*Corresponding experience with IDE's and tools:*
*Forte, Eclipse, Netbeans, Rational Application Developer or similar
plug-in based IDE*
*Debugging (e.g. Junit, others), Memory Leak Tools (e.g. Purify),
Performance Profiling Tools (e.g. JProbe).***
* Static Code Analysis a plus (Fortify, Findbugs)*
*And corresponding experience writing and deploying applications onto one or
