Title:        SAS Administrator

Duration:   3 month engagement, with good chance for extension.

Location:  Hartford, CT.

Rate: Open

 

Primary Duties:  

*         Responsible for providing technical leadership and project
management duties relating to SAS installations, upgrades, performance
tuning, space utilization management, security architecture and best
practices, maintenance activities and deployment of new infrastructure.

*         Responsible for diagnosing and resolving SAS performance
problems as well as optimizing system performance.

*         Responsible for cost accounting of SAS hardware and software
infrastructure budget and developing processes and measures to reduce
the cost of hardware infrastructure.

*         Communication with customers with regard to system outages.

*         Provide technical expertise and guidance to SAS application
teams with regard to infrastructure and supported development tools.

*         Provide recommendations of SAS hardware configurations to
ensure stability and availability including backup, recovery and
disaster recovery issues.

*         Establish and maintain effective change control and release
management processes.

 

Primary Skills:

 

*       Strong knowledge of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence
industry technologies and tools. 
*       Ability to understand performance tuning / scalability and
utilize this information to influence other teams as they develop and
test their applications 
*       Strong knowledge of SAS Development tool. 
*       Advanced SAS administration skills (Expert knowledge of SAS
Management Console and SAS Metadata Server) 
*       Strong knowledge of Teradata database. 

*        Strong technical documentation skills.

*        Understanding of SAS security models and process as well as the
ability to communicate with other teams to insure applications are audit
compliant.

*        Understanding of source management tools (e.g. MKS) and
deployment tools (e.g. Tivoli) 

*        Strong knowledge with operating systems (Windows, UNIX) to be
able to coordinate, test and implement required software upgrades.

*        Strong communication and interpersonal skills

 

 

Secondary Skills:

 

*        Project management skills

*        Ability to put together plans for roll-outs/upgrades, get
buy-in, follow-through and execute to the plans 

*        Ability to communicate in a leadership capacity with respect to
upgrades, new functionality, new projects setup etc

*        Team oriented 

*        Relationship management skills

*        Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of technical
and business disciplines

*        Ability to suggest and act upon process improvements
