Position Description: DBservices provides value added Database Administration services to IB business area within the Bank. The work comprises all aspects of Sybase Database Administration with tasks including : * Logical & physical database design * Provide database expertise * Building/upgrading Sybase ASE/RS, adhering to bank deployment and security standards * Assisting application teams with releases, resolving performance issues, coordinating with unix/storage teams when required * Setting up and resolving issues with Sybase replication, ASE, Housekeeping etc. * Ability to work independently and resolve complex Sybase issues * Proactive monitoring of the databases, backups and restores * Working outside core business hours * Experience in task automation * Scripting language (ksh, perl) Experience Required: * Min. experience of 10 yr. required * Proven track record in supporting development and production activities simultaneously in a large environment with good communication skills * Must be able to tune complex queries, suggest logical design changes * In-depth knowledge of Sybase ASE 1192, 12.X and 15.
