Title: Data Warehouse Architect

Location: *San Jose, CA *

Duration: 6months

Skills:

Candidate must have prior experience leading successful large-scale data
warehousing implementations using a variety of implementation approaches.

Extensive experience with data warehouse design and development is required.


The primary role is of logical data modeler, though the ideal candidate will
be able to cross over from logical design to physical implementation in DB2
on Linux.

This person must have strong professional consulting skills and the ability
to communicate well at all levels of the organization.

   - Identify inefficiencies and gaps in current data warehouses, data marts
   and data stores.
   - Provide planning for the development of database architectures, coding
   standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
   - Create logical models for new data warehouse development and/or changes
   to existing data stores.
   - Provide guidance and/or leadership on the physical database
   implementation in DB2 UDB.
   - Provide guidance and/or leadership on the long term data warehouse
   designs approaches.
   - Provide input to the design of the ETL process, including data quality
   and testing.
   - Recommend and implement security requirements for the data warehouse.
   - Recommend metrics and tools for measuring the ongoing effectiveness of
   the data warehouse.
   - Evaluate and recommend standards for the data warehouse.

*Knowledge & Experience*

   - Experience in leading successful large-scale data warehousing efforts.
   Working technical experience with designing, building, installing,
   configuring and supporting multi-terabyte data warehouses.
   - Current knowledge of the data warehouse market, vendors, and standards
   bodies.
   - Strong technical skills with all data warehousing technologies (e.g.,
   ETL, ODS, DBMS, BI).
   - DBMS technologies - IBM DB2 (UDB) is essential and MS SQL Server will
   help.   ETL technologies including Informatica.  BI technologies including
   Cognos.  (preferred but not must. Should have working knowledge atleast).
   - Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories,
   principles, and practices.
   - Hands-on experience with data architecting, data mining, large-scale
   data modeling (normalized and multidimensional), and business requirements
   gathering/analysis.
   - Hands on experience of both Inmon and Kimball approaches to data
   warehouse implementations.
   - Broad based information technology experience (e.g., languages,
   methods, EAI, XML).
   - Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
   - Experience with Travel Industry computing platforms, applications, and
   metrics.
