*Position: Websphere Engineer* *Location: Warren, NJ* *Rate: Open* *Duration: 6+ months* Local candidates only for now. This is not a Websphere Admin, I need an ENGINEER. *Description*: - Understanding of WebSphere 5 and 6 architecture and interaction of complex n-tiered hosted applications. - Administrators should be able to perform most functions related to the daily management of the environment without the need to use console access. - Scripting, automation and monitoring from trace and logging files important. - Familiarity of WebSphere XD concepts in large scale environment beneficial. - Familiarity of monitoring tools such a Symantec I3 (Indepth for J2EE) and Mercury Site Scope beneficial. - Effective communication skills among business, teammates, and development customers along with management are very important. Roles to include: - Deployment of applications - Configuration of supporting connectors (such as J2C, JDBC, JMS and thread pools) - Oracle, DB2 and MSSQL database concepts - PMI & JMX monitoring protocols - JVM heap and core file analysis and troubleshooting - Support questions and troubleshooting with development teams during full application lifecycle (development, testing, runtime) - Analysis of Load Testing results - Continuity of Business (Disaster Recovery) configurations and environmental awareness of application support - Stack trace and source code understanding of Java applications - Understanding XML configurations of key WebSphere components including admin script management - Providing leadership, training and mentoring of other team members within the WebSphere admin group - Show independence in problem solving while leveraging teamwork in complex runtime situations. - Understanding of shell scripting (Jython, Python, Kshell, Perl, etc.) *Qualifications*:* * *Skills Requirements* Technical: College level IT training, degree preferred. Knowledge of WebSphere Application Server environment. Entry to mid-level experience in UNIX System administration (AIX preferred). Scripting skills (Perl, Shell) skills a plus. Exposure to or experience in FileNet Imaging, Oracle Database, Websphere (including J2EE development knowledge), BMC Patrol, Connect: Direct, Web-based applications also a plus. Management: Self-motivated, Leadership, Communication, Analytical, and Adaptability. Functional: Project leadership/management, Application Integration, Technical Writing, Problem diagnosis/resolution. Other Required Skills: Good understanding of "standards", their need, implementation, and maintenance. Good understanding of the "change control" process, revisioning, and documentation.
