*Title: Tester* *Duration: Long term* *Location: Gaithersburg , MD* *Duties:* The Test Engineer is responsible for analyzing applications and systems and related customer/development requirements, and for developing, designing, and drafting corresponding test scenarios. They also design overall test environment for customer requirements. · Define the test strategy for customer requirements to include designing, writing, and executing test cases and procedures that define specific test criteria and the expected results to be achieved · Design and develop test plans/procedures and software/hardware configurations for the test production environment based on analysis of the customer's targeted production environment · Review overall test strategy/documentation and ensure all inadequacies in product, process and/or standards, making recommendations to management are how to improve product usability and product problem areas · Design and code drivers, stubs and data generators when needed and applicable · Perform risk analysis, as needed, along with proposed mitigation strategies · Perform functional and system analysis during test planning · Document all test results in logs and reports · Assist or train others in understanding complex application areas and functions, which include product areas and functionality within 3rd party products associated with the application under test · Identify, analyze and document all programming errors and operational characteristics that are inconsistent with stated requirements and design specification goals for the given program, application or set of applications · Interface and work closely with development to call attention to problems, resolving problems and/or assist in recreating them · Verify and validate resolutions to problems · Provide focus to specific product areas and assume responsibility for assuring all documentation is in synch with product functionality. · Determine validity of final system with respect to user needs and requirements · Attend requirements analysis working sessions along with design reviews and working sessions, when applicable, to gain a thorough understanding of the intent of the requirements and software system design. This knowledge will be essential for producing and reviewing test plans, test cases and procedures. · Provide, as required, the distribution of technical status, information and documentation to the Test Manager and test team · Present, as required, regular status reports of progress and issues against the project schedule to the Test Manager *SKILLS:* · Thorough knowledge of test processes and methodologies, with experience in both white box and black box testing** · Experience with, and full understanding of structured software life cycle development · Knowledge of web services and XML-based technologies · Experience with: o Java o Oracle o Unix o Win2000/XP · Experience writing drivers, stubs and/or data generators to enable testing at the white box level · Experience with configuration management tools and defect tracking systems · Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills exhibiting extreme attention to detail *Nice to have:* * *· CMMI Level 3 experience a plus · Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest a plus * Thanks & Regards, Scott Technical Recruiter 703-636-6803 (V) 703-991-8346 (F) [email protected] www.softcominc.net*
