Skill: Network Security and IT Risk Analyst Location: Houston, TX Duration: 6 months contract to hire Rate: Salary is open Work Status: GC, Citizen only (No EAD's) Description: Network Security and IT Risk Analyst Summary: Assures that an acceptable level of network security is maintained throughout the CLIENT network environments by providing network security consulting, perform security reviews on a wide range of evolving network technologies and processes, and other related network security services. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: * Performs infrastructure and web application vulnerability assessments * Performs risk assessments to identify potential risks using existing risk assessment work flow processes and tools * Advises departments on policies, regulatory compliance and security best practices, providing training as required * Serves as the subject matter expert for security best practices, policies, and regulatory requirements * Provides follow-up with managers/application owners to manage the remediation of risk assessment findings * Conducts customer interviews, produces risk assessment documentation and action plan follow-up correspondence * Maintain the CLIENT firewall infrastructure * Provide support and assistance during internal and external audits. * Assist Corporate Security in investigating the misuse of computer resources by providing reports, logs and other information. * Interface with technical vendors regarding security issues and recommend solutions. * Develop network security standards. * Ensure network security rules, standards, and architecture is adequate to safe guard the CLIENT network. Experience: * Risk management experience, hands-on experience with network, OS and application security. * Experience with vulnerability scanners, such as Nessus and ISS * Experience with web application vulnerability scanners, such as WebInspect and AppScan * Preferred to be knowledgeable about SOX, HIPAA and NERC regulations Additional Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, Certifications, and Licenses: Certification with CheckPoint Firewalls and/or ISS IPS systems Must have excellent technical skills in security software, appliances, operating system software, and networking.
